40 for 40

Celebrating 40 Years of Conservation

This year, the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust (CDLT) is celebrating 40 years of protecting the land and water that make North Central Washington special. To mark this milestone, we’re launching Forty for Forty—featuring 40 special articles in The Wenatchee World and 40 free events!

These events and articles highlight the incredible places our community has helped protect—such as Sage Hills, Saddle Rock Natural Area, Castle Rock Natural Area, Horse Lake Reserve, and Mountain Home Preserve—while reminding us why conservation matters. Without CDLT and its supporters, these cherished lands could have been lost to development or closed to the public. Instead, they remain open for all to explore and enjoy. [Click here] to view our conservation properties and ongoing work.

40 for 40 also serves as an introduction for those new to the area and a reintroduction for those who may not yet know about CDLT and our impact. Through these articles, we aim to share the history of our role in local land conservation and the ways we’ve worked to protect the places that make this region special.
