Burts Trail meanders from the Burts’ family homestead barn (lower) at Horse Lake Reserve and connects to the lower end of Glacier View Trail. It provides unique views to the north of Burch Mountain and the open spaces of the northern portion of the Reserve. It’s lower terminus is at 1620’ below the elevation of the Horse Lake trailhead, and it climbs gradually over 1.3 miles to connect with Glacier View Trail at 2100’. It is currently open to foot and mountain bike traffic, but closed to equestrian traffic until next year when the surface hardens and becomes durable enough for use by horses.
From Horse Lake Trailhead parking lot, take the first right and continue down the old road past 2 gates. Continue past the old Burts homestead and barn. Look for signage for the entrance to the Burts Trail.
