Leadership Training: Moving Beyond Land Acknowledgement
WENATCHEE & LEAVENWORTH, WA- The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust (CDLT) and Wenatchee River Institute (WRI), in collaboration with Tribal Leaders, are hosting a retreat to foster meaningful connections with Indigenous communities. This event held at the retreat center closest to the confluence of the Wenatchee and Icicle (na-sik-elt) Rivers will feature workshops, meetings, films, and panel discussions aimed at promoting trust-based relationships and supporting Indigenous-led initiatives.
Event Details:
• Dates: November 4-5, 2025
• Location: Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort, Leavenworth, WA
• Cost: $100 (includes room and board double occupancy)
Goals:
• Bridge gaps between organizations and Indigenous communities
• Promote cultural humility and inclusive leadership
• Equip participants with practical knowledge for deeper engagement
Impact: This retreat is expected to enhance community understanding of Indigenous cultures and strengthen partnerships in North Central Washington (NCW).
Reserve Your Spot: Invitations were sent to leaders of NCW community service, nonprofits, and government agencies in May. Another round of invitations will go out in early July. Public Celebration: Stay tuned for an evening gathering that will be open to the public.
The event will be facilitated by Lynn Palmanteer-Holder, a citizen of eight of twelve Tribes that make up the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation located in NCW. She is a highly accomplished professional with experience as an administrator and consultant who has a history of working across K12, and higher education as a teacher, counselor, superintendent, trainer, researcher, and professor. Lynn brings lived experience as a tribal leader and is a daughter of a veteran tribal leader. She is skilled in training leaders across government agencies, education, business enterprises and non-profits to understand the mutual benefits of building reciprocal government-to-government relationships with Tribes as sovereign nations.
