CDLT Member Event: Reptiles and Amphibian Walk

Join us and Torsten Watkins, a 20-year-old amateur herpetologist, for a unique walk to learn about the reptiles and amphibians of the Wenatchee Valley. We will take a short hike at Saddle Rock, making various stops to try and find snakes, lizards, and other crawly creatures. 

 

Event details:

  • Participants will learn about the native reptile and amphibian species found in this area, how to identify them, the problems they face, and what we can do to help them thrive

  • Everyone will receive their own copy of a field guide covering all species of reptiles and amphibians in Chelan and Douglas counties.

  • This walk is suitable for all ages and families. 

  • Registration is encouraged to help us estimate how many people to expect. Plus, you will receive email reminders and event updates.

Meeting Location: Saddle Rock Trailhead


Leader: Torsten Watkins is a 20-year-old amateur herpetologist from Wenatchee, Washington. Since a young age, he has spent his time searching and learning whatever he can about reptiles and amphibians. This passion has led him to share his love of animals with others through presentations, articles, and lectures. Torsten developed a field guide for reptiles and amphibians of Chelan County. He is currently studying the genetics of the Northwestern Salamander in the Olympic Mountains. 


Trail: We will walk on both compacted soil and gravel roads. The walk will be up to 1 mile total at a leisurely pace, stopping often to look for reptiles and amphibians.

Accessibility:

  • There are restrooms at the trailhead
  • There is minimal shade available- please bring sunscreen, hat, water, and sunglasses

The Land Trust is working to make all of our events as accessible as possible. Please let us know at least 1 week in advance if there is anything we can do or provide to support you in participating in this outing to the fullest, and we will do our best to accommodate.
