Join Conservation Fellow, Susan Ballinger, to conduct bird monitoring at Horse Lake Reserve.
Since 2016, CDLT has been collecting monthly bird use data, April-October, at 7 stationary locations on the reserve. The project was started after the 2012 and 2015 wildfires burned the shrubby ravines that are essential nesting habitat for more than 40 neotropical migrant songbirds and resident birds.
No experience or bird expertise required. The round-trip walking time takes 4-5 hours. with a round-trip hike distance of 5.3 miles and 1120 elevation gain, walking on single-track trails. We conduct the surveys between 6am-11am.
Email Susan Ballinger at [email protected] to get final logistics including meeting location, meeting time, and carpool options.
