Horse Lake Trailhead Reopens with Improved Access and New Amenities

We’re excited to share that the Horse Lake Trailhead is now open to the public! With expanded parking, upgraded paths, and enhanced accessibility features, the popular gateway to the Horse Lake Reserve is now more welcoming than ever.

Construction kicked off earlier this spring with equipment deliveries, planning sessions, and nine dump truck loads of material arriving on site. Since then, the crew has been hard at work transforming the area. The trailhead now features 30 parking spaces—doubling its previous capacity—thanks to the addition of three new rows of angled parking and a 30-foot widening of the lot. New drainage features were also installed to manage stormwater better and reduce erosion.

Visitors will find improved access throughout the site, including newly constructed wheelchair-accessible paths that connect the parking area to the restroom, kiosk, picnic tables, and the View Trail. These upgrades support a more inclusive outdoor experience for all who visit.

In addition, a dedicated space has been created for a future native plant garden, and fencing is being installed to protect restoration areas. Native planting and seeding will take place in fall 2025.

While a few finishing touches are still underway—such as seating, parking signage, and additional restoration efforts—the trailhead is fully open for public use.

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to make long-term improvements. We look forward to seeing you on the trail!
