Chelan-Douglas Land Trust Celebrates 40 Years of Conservation
2025 Marks Decades of Protecting Land and Water in North Central Washington
WENATCHEE—In 2025, the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust (CDLT) is proudly celebrating 40 years of conserving the lands and waters that make North Central Washington special. Since its founding in 1985, CDLT has worked alongside dedicated supporters, volunteers, and partners to protect over twenty-seven thousand acres of forest, shrub-steppe, and riparian lands across Chelan and Douglas counties.
To commemorate this milestone, CDLT has launched 40 for 40, a year-long celebration featuring 40 special articles in The Wenatchee World and 40 free events throughout the year. These articles and events highlight the lands our community has helped conserve—places like Sage Hills, Saddle Rock Natural Area, Castle Rock Natural Area, Horse Lake Reserve, and Mountain Home Preserve—while reminding us why conservation matters.
In addition to these celebrations, CDLT has created a special 40th-anniversary logo to symbolize four decades of conservation success. We invite our partners, supporters, and community members to proudly display this logo throughout the year to showcase their commitment to protecting the natural beauty of our region.
Stop by CDLT’s downtown home at 18 North Wenatchee Avenue to pick up free 40th Anniversary stickers and a Foothills trail map. “In reviewing the Land Trust's accomplishments in 2025, I find it fitting that our themes are as relevant now as they were forty years ago: conservation, community, and collaboration. Thanks to your support and enthusiasm, we have much to be proud of.” said Bob Bugert, CDLT Interim Executive Director.
