Doctors in Wenatchee have been passing out some unusual prescriptions lately – not pills, but mountain hikes. It’s called the Foothills Hiking Challenge
With the successful completion of the recent $8.67 million Wenatchee Foothills Campaign, land protected in the foothills west of Wenatchee for people and wildlife has doubled.
The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and the Trust for Public Lands had a big party Friday night to celebrate one of the region's most extraordinary capital campaign successes ever that is transforming our valley and creating momentum for the future.
More than 500 local business folks on Thursday celebrated life and work in the Wenatchee Valley by honoring one of the area’s largest restaurant groups, one of its fastest growing ag product companies, two of its most respected nonprofits and a local couple devoted to promotion of the arts.
They arrived at the base of Saddle Rock on April 20, 2013, by themselves, as couples, in groups of 10 or more. All with one goal in mind: Hike up the hill to their assigned spot as part of the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust’s Hands Across the Foothills event.
