Chelan-Douglas Land Trust is excited to share the video Opportunity of a Lifetime: Community Conservation in Chelan County, which tells the story of current work to implement the Upper Wenatchee Watershed Community Lands Plan.
The Trust for Public Land (TPL) has an option agreement to purchase 35,000 acres of community-identified priority lands enabling them to transfer the properties from private ownership to public benefit and management. This video was built in partnership with Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, Trust for Public Land, local officials, and North Forty Productions, and showcases the work to protect one of our region’s most vulnerable and vital landscapes.
Tremendous progress is already being achieved. Because of strong support, the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest (OWNF) just received $7,000,000 to acquire Phase 1 and their $8,000,0000 request to acquire Phase 2 ranked #3 in the nation.
