4/29/2026 Lunch & Learn - From Dead Zone to Healthy Habitat: Options for Replacing Your Existing Lawn

Chelan-Douglas Land (CDLT) hosted another Lunch & Learn event, bringing CDLT members together for an engaging and informative conversation on land conservation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us-we’re grateful for your time and participation. For those who were unable to attend, the presentation details and resources are shared below.

About the Presentation: Betsy shared how to remove your traditional turfgrass lawn, prepare the soil, and seed or plant a lawn alternative. She presented options for growing a more ecologically friendly lawn using drought-tolerant native grasses, creating an eco-lawn with native grasses and low-growing native annuals and perennials, and planting a wildflower meadow.

Presenter Bio: Betsy Dudash is a Wenatchee-based Landscape Horticulturist and Designer with a B.S. in Landscape Horticulture and Design from Purdue University. Her work focuses on using native plants to create landscapes that are also habitats. Betsy regularly teaches in the Continuing Education program at Wenatchee Valley College and gives occasional public talks. She's also the past president of Sustainable NCW.
