The cute, furry little critter with the bold white stripes — Mephitis mephitis to biologists — is best known for its get-away-quick obnoxious aroma, but Gaylord, an Eastmont High School math teacher, was perfectly comfortable, excited even, in handling this not-so-cuddly specimen. Like dozens of other mammals in the Wenatchee Valley College biology lab, the skunk was stiff, stuffed and ready for study by 25 mostly older students in a new class that will prepare them to be experts of local nature.
