CDLT Member Event: Spiva Butte Tour

Join us on this exclusive tour of the Spiva Butte Nature Preserve led by CDLT's Conservation Follow, Stewardship Advisor, Susan Ballinger. 

Date: May 30th from 7:30 AM-4:00 PM 

Trip Details:  

• The property is located in Douglas County and is about 1.5-hour away.
• Transportation will not be provided; we are encouraging people to carpool.
• There are no restrooms at the property, but we plan to stop at Waterville for a bathroom break. 
• Participants can expect a moderate 2-mile round-trip walk on uneven but fairly flat ground- there is no trail.

Property information: 

The Spiva Butte Nature Preserve consists of some of the most pristine shrub-steppe habitat left in Washington State. The 1,396-acre preserve provides critical habitat for one of the last two viable Greater sage-grouse populations remaining in the state. With its three springs, four-acre Crosetto Lake, and miles of riparian corridors, the preserve's healthy habitat is home to an amazing diversity of birds, wildlife, and plants.

La reserva de 560 hectáreas (1,396 acres) proporciona un hábitat crucial para una de las dos últimas poblaciones viables de urogallo de las artemisas que quedan en el estado. Con sus tres manantiales, el lago Crosetto de 1,6 hectáreas (4 acres) y kilómetros de corredores ribereños, el hábitat saludable de la reserva alberga una asombrosa diversidad de aves, fauna y plantas.
