Partnership between school district, city and Land Trust essential to improving Saddle Rock trailhead

WENATCHEE — Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and the City of Wenatchee hope to begin work on a new Saddle Rock trailhead and outdoor education center late this fall or early 2016.

Land Trust Executive Director Bob Bugert updated the Wenatchee School Board on the plan at the board’s meeting Tuesday and thanked members for the Land Trust’s ongoing partnership with the district that has made the project possible.

The development — which includes parking, public restrooms, picnic canopies and native plant landscaping around the outdoor classroom — will be constructed on a five-acre parcel made available through a complicated property trade now being finalized between the school district, the city and Appleatchee Riders club.
