No easy answers when it comes to wildfires

Bob Bugert, executive director of Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, said he was heartened to see the strong response of the public to attend the summit and their willingness to get involved in finding solutions to complex problems. It was encouraging to hear that city, county, state and national policy makers were working in parallel plans toward fire prevention.

“But we should not be looking to Olympia or Washington, D.C., to solve our problems,” Bugert said after the four-hour event. “We need to come up with solutions here and look to Olympia and Washington to help. There’s a lot of work to do.”
