Families make tracks on a foothills trek

Families of hardy explorers ventured into the Wenatchee Foothills Saturday, eyes peeled for signs of animals and whatever adventures awaited. They weren’t disappointed.

“What kind of animals might we see today?” guide Hillary Schwirtlich asked the young explorers, moments before their hike up the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust’s Jacobson Preserve.

“Maybe a komodo dragon?” asked 3-year-old Erik Foreman of Wenatchee, evoking stifled chuckles from some of the larger explorers.
