The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust's annual fall banquet attracted a huge crowd Friday as the organization celebrated its major accomplishments of 2011 and honored local individuals who put time, money and effort into making the Wenatchee Valley a better place.
I'm continually inspired by the work that this organization does and more importantly the way in which its leaders get things done. If you pay attention to how they operate, it's abundantly clear that they are interested in far more than conservation. There's an understanding that the success of a community requires a balanced approach that encourages a strong economy and a healthy environment — that these are integrally connected and not mutually exclusive.
