Mountain Home Pile Burn

Date
Time
10:00am - 4:00pm
The Chelan Douglas Land Trust is hosting a community pile burning event on their Mountain Home (Leavenworth) property this coming weekend. For 40 years the CDLT has been providing the area with quality water, recreation, and a vital connection to natural landscapes by safeguarding these areas for generations to come. This is a great opportunity to support the CDLT and the trails we all enjoy by spending your day burning piles and meeting other members of the community. The CDLT has conducted an 80-acre thinning project. This burn will help dispose of 8 acres of thinning hand piles.
What to expect:
Help with a variety of tasks (lighting piles, tending fires, and patrolling). Work is off-trail and can be strenuous. There is some rain in the forecast, so work could get delayed and/or be a bit soggy.
Things to bring:
Natural fiber clothing, outdoor work boots, leather work gloves, eye protection, N95 mask (for smoke), rain jacket, and a backpack. Please bring your own water and snacks.
For children: If you want to bring children along, please plan to do so late in the day (2:30 pm - onwards). We will roast hot dogs over a fire starting around 3pm and children are welcome to participate. Feel free to contact Sam directly if you have any questions.
