Kids & Nature: For the birds - and the kids!

About this time of year, I want to do one of two things, depending on the weather — get outside and play in the beautiful white fluffy stuff, or stay inside and curl up with a warm cup of tea, my nature journal and paints, or a good book. Luckily, getting to know the birds in your backyard is something you can do from inside or outside your home.

Kids have an innate fascination with birds because of their bright colors and ability to fly. I remember daydreaming earnestly as a child about sprouting wings and soaring through the sky. Nurturing a love of birds at a young age can give your kids a lifelong passion.
