Nonprofits, among our assets

Nonprofit organizations and the volunteers who ensure their vitality are unappreciated community assets. I make this claim with 14 years of experience under my belt with the Icicle Fund, a local grant-making nonprofit that has awarded 380 grants, worth just under $36.6 million, to 98 nonprofits working in North Central Washington. From this perspective, I see a sector of our community that not only has an economic impact, but perhaps more importantly, an impact on the quality of our lives that goes beyond each nonprofit’s mission.
