Greetings!

The weather has been chillier and wetter than usual. The upside of that is the prolonged wildflower peak. I'm still seeing early-Spring bloomers in places!

Lots going on! The annual Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest is happening now through this Sunday. And, if you need to release some pent-up frustration, why not take it out on some noxious weeds—plenty of work parties coming up to unleash your inner weed warrior! Construction on a new trailhead will start soon—find out more below about how it will impact hiking in the foothills.

We appreciate you!

New Trailhead!
Construction is scheduled to begin May 31st on Kenzie's Landing, a new trailhead located at the end of Maiden Lane in Wenatchee—a wonderful addition to the Wenatchee Foothills trail system.

And, a heads-up, there will be temporary trail closures during construction.

What's that shrub?

It's a staple for mule deer in the shrub-steppe. It's in bloom right now. Native Americans used the leaves as a laxative and to relieve itching. And, the flowers smell like the candy, "Red Hots."
