Armstrong Proposes Loop Trail Transfer to Local Jurisdiction

WENATCHEE — Rep. Mike Armstrong has introduced a plan that would hand over ownership of the eastside portion of the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail to Douglas County and East Wenatchee.

Those interested in the Apple Capital Loop Trail have opportunities to support future visions and make it safer by removing dangerous curves.

I was one of twelve volunteers who studied weekly for six months to develop a vision for the trail and present it to East Wenatchee City Council and Douglas County Commissioners. They are preparing a formal recommendations about the eastside shoreline to the Washington Department of Transportation regarding land use, development and stewardship.

Loop trail lovers grapple with safety v. sense

EAST WENATCHEE — Lovers of the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail turned out in force Thursday to ponder whether an already-funded proposal to eliminate two hairpin curves would be better left to lower-cost alternatives and common sense.

Study session on the Apple Capital Loop trail

There is an important opportunity for public involvement in a study session on the Apple Capital Loop trail being held on Monday, September 27th. It would be great to see a big turnout there. We also have several new fall events and volunteer opportunities scheduled, and of course the our big 25th Anniversery Celebration Dinner is on October 22nd. See below for all the details.

The Riverfront, A Common Cause

If the community wants the Loop Trail to be saved, the Loop Trail will be saved. The land beneath it will not be sold.

This was the hopeful assurance of the state's Secretary of Transportation Paula Hammond, who was the focus of a standing-room-only meeting Thursday at Eastmont Junior High School to discuss the future of the riverfront.
