WENATCHEE, WA – The Trust for Public Land (TPL) and the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust (CDLT) today announced the permanent protection of Broadview Canyon, 52 acres of undeveloped land at the edge of the Wenatchee Foothills. The land, which will be added to Wenatchee’s permanently protected open space, is a key access point to pristine lands and outdoor recreation.

The long awaited opening of the Sage Hills Trails in the Wenatchee Foothills is here.  Each year, these trails close in December to provide mule deer winter habitat without human influence. As hard as it is for us all to wait, the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust wants to remind everyone that even if March starts to feel warm and spring like, April 1^st is opening day for all foothills trails north of fifth street except the new Homestead Trail at Horse Lake, which opens May 1st.

Winter can be a difficult period for pregnant does, as well as fawns, who are building fat reserves to make it through winter. It is tempting for folks to get out on the trail, but the winter closure is the most important time to avoid stressing deer.

Wenatchee Foothills Open House
Public invited to finalize a community vision and strategy for the Wenatchee Foothills.

After a year of hard work and public outreach, the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust (CDLT) and The Trust for Public Land (TPL) will host an open house with the City of Wenatchee and Chelan County to share key findings and gather community input on the Wenatchee Foothills Community Strategy.
