Despite recent changes, our mission remains strong, and our incredible team and supporters continue to inspire progress. On July 4, 2024, fireworks sparked a wildfire in the Wenatchee Foothills near the Balsamroot Trail and the Broadview neighborhood.
Firefighters from the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department worked tirelessly through the night, successfully extinguishing the flames within 24 hours. The fire left a 305-acre burn scar, impacting 175 acres of City of Wenatchee land and 130 acres of private property. During a site visit on one of our conservation easements, two CDLT staff members made an exciting discovery: Thelypodium sagittatum, a State Sensitive native flower, is thriving abundantly at the Spiva Butte Preserve. This special place is protected thanks to the generous support of members like you! |

This holiday season, we're shining a spotlight on Diane McKenzie, one of the CDLT's most dedicated volunteer!
Diane has been an integral part of our team for years, coming into the office weekly to lend her invaluable support. To celebrate her and spread a little joy, we're excited to share her famous dessert recipe—a cherished treat that has become a staff favorite over the years. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! |

In memory of Phil Archibald |
Phil and Kim, dedicated neighbors of Stormy Creek Preserve on the Entiat River, enriched our community through their love of nature and stewardship. Their daily dog walks included pulling invasive knapweed, observing plant and animal life, and enjoying the outdoors. Kim served as a CDLT board member for over a decade, while Phil volunteered on the CDLT Stewardship Committee for two decades, offering guidance and expertise as a fisheries biologist.
Phil’s meticulous eBird records created a lasting resource for Stormy Preserve, reflecting his passion for community science. In their honor, CDLT placed a memorial bench overlooking the river, a favorite spot to watch Chinook salmon spawn each October.
