PETS AND PEOPLE OUTDOORS
Chelan Douglas Land Trust and Wenatchee Valley Humane Society launch new partnership
WENATCHEE, WA – The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society and the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust are
thrilled to announce their collaborative endeavor — Pets & People Outdoors. This initiative aims to build
community by creating opportunities for people and their dogs to come together and experience the
beauty of the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust’s protected trails, together. Each Pets & People Outdoors event
will showcase a dog-friendly trail with hiking opportunities for all fitness levels. Attendees will share
trail etiquette tips and learn about the health benefits of experiencing nature alongside beloved canine
companions. Dogs are integral members of our families and sharing our preserved natural landscapes
enhances the well-being of pets and people.
"By embarking on this partnership, the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society and Chelan-Douglas Land
Trust honors the cherished connection between pets, individuals, and the breathtaking land preserved for
future generations. Pets & People Outdoors is a collaborative program spotlighting dog-friendly trails,
conservation efforts, and the advantages of embracing nature while spending quality time outdoors with
our faithful companions," remarked James Pumphrey, Executive Director of WVHS.
This partnership celebrates the joy and vitality people discover outdoors alongside their canine friends,
companions, and loved ones. The Land Trust oversees 33 miles of dog-friendly trails in the Wenatchee
Foothills alone and everyone (and their dogs) are always welcome. Committed to fostering a pet-friendly
community, the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society encourages activities that include our furry friends.
Recognizing that pets are indeed family, the collaboration between Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and the
Wenatchee Valley Humane Society promotes community engagement by encouraging families to relish
our natural spaces.
“As of this spring, all of the Land Trust trails in the Wenatchee Foothills are dog friendly,” said Eunice
Youmans, Executive Director at the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. “This Pets & People Outdoors
partnership with the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society will create more opportunities for folks to come
together and enjoy our beautiful trails.”
