Planting at Horse Lake

Join us for a day of planting native grass plugs at Horse Lake Reserve. We will be restoring a small area north of the lower barn with basin wildrye. Horse Lake Reserve is not accessible to the public until April 1st, so we will entering the area as a group through the locked gate at 8:45 am, back down at 1 pm. Because of this limitation, make sure to sign up, and let us know if you need to arrive late or leave early so we can plan accordingly. Carpooling from the meeting site is optional; please bring a mask if you plan to carpool.

Volunteers can expect light/moderate work and walking 1-1.5 miles with an elevation gain of 200-250 feet. The walk to the site is about half a mile along a dirt road (may be muddy). Planting will require digging and bending to plant grass plugs. This is a great activity for kids! Please bring a face mask if you plan to carpool, work gloves, water, lunch if you need it, layers of clothing appropriate for the weather on site (Horse Lake can get windy!), close-toed shoes, and a planting tool if you have a favorite. The Land Trust will bring a first aid kit, tools, snacks, and extra water. If you have dietary restrictions, please plan to bring your own snacks.
