Event is full! What an amazing turnout - THANK YOU!!!

Join CDLT, Team Naturaleza, and the City of Wenatchee for Make a Difference Day at Saddle Rock, Saturday, October 22, from 9 am until 3 pm. We will be planting over 2,000 native grasses, wildflowers, shrubs, and trees around Saddle Rock. The work will involve hiking to various planting locations along the main trail/road, using a shovel to dig a hole, then planting small to medium-sized plants. We will pre-drill some of the larger holes when possible. Much of the planting will be done on uneven ground, though some can be done from the graveled road. Please leave pets at home, and we recommend not to bring small children (the ones that could inadvertently eat the dirt - see soil content note at the end).

CDLT will provide lunch at noon delicious tacos from La Tortuga Loca. You will have an option between chicken or veggie tacos, plus rice and beans. If you have dietary restrictions, we recommend bringing your own lunch in case this doesn’t meet your needs. Please make sure to bring close-toed, sturdy shoes, long pants, water, snacks, garden/work gloves that can be washed, and a shovel if you have it.

Soil/Rock Content Note: Saddle Rock Natural Area contains naturally high levels of arsenic in some areas the soil and bedrock. Even after removing mining waste, there are natural hot spots for arsenic on site that have been meticulously mapped, which we will avoid planting into. Your safety is important to us. To provide extra precautions, we will have extra work gloves, disposable masks, and washing stations for use at the Make a Difference Day event. We suggest people wash their hands at the washing stations before eating, and after the event: wash clothes, rinse off boots, and shower. You can read more about arsenic by clicking on this CDC website link.
