Stewardship Objectives

Our objective is to protect and restore healthy habitats for fish and wildlife, provide responsible public access to our lands, and foster a culture of conservation through education and volunteer participation.

Management plans guide our work on each property we own. Stewardship may include restoring native plants along a riverbank, controlling noxious weeds, or removing old fences. We increase our knowledge about the property’s plants and animals through field work such as bird surveys, reptile studies, and mule deer research, which inform our stewardship decisions.

On Conservation Easement properties, our stewardship role is one of supporting the private landowner as they care for their land, including helping secure resources for restoration projects they may want to do. We also monitor all Easement properties at least annually to ensure that the terms of the Easement are being followed.
