Blue Sage’s 75 acres of prime shrub steppe habitat provides stunning views of the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers, and a bird’s eye view of how Wenatchee is steadily moving into the surrounding foothills. The Land Trust acquired this property to ensure vital open space adjacent to a growing metropolitan area.
Situated just beyond the urban growth boundary, the property, like much of the Wenatchee Foothills, was vulnerable to poorly planned development. The Land Trust’s protection guarantees that Blue Sage will live up to its name and provide habitat for Meadowlark and mule deer, as well as access to natural areas in the city’s backyard. Another key piece of the Foothills plan is now in place.
